OnePlus 10 Pro fell apart in the durability test

by time news

OnePlus’ current flagship device in China, OnePlus 10 Pro, which has not yet won a global launch date, has reached the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything, which specializes in durability tests – not to mention abuse – on new handsets. Few devices survive the test without a scratch, however for the OnePlus 10 Pro a far worse fate awaited than usual.

The start of the test was fairly normal, with attempts to scratch the display and back of the device. The screen stood the test nicely, while the back cover suffered nothing but cosmetic damage. However, when an attempt was made to fold the device using pressure, after a few moments the device simply fell apart and was cut in two. Somewhat amusingly, he continued to act in this situation as well, however it is quite clear that he has become unusable.

A closer examination of the damage caused to the device indicates a number of possible design failures. The point where the device breaks is exactly the point where the battery is installed, a point that raises the possibility that the location of the battery or the way it is connected to the device and the other components creates a kind of weak point that is sensitive to folding. Another thing that comes up in the test is that the chassis of the device is made of metal, but it looks thinner than most competing devices.

One Plus was in no hurry to respond to the disappointing test. It should be noted that the pressure exerted on the device is of course not one that is likely to just happen in everyday use, but since competing devices have not disassembled in a similar way, it can be assumed that the OnePlus 10 Pro is less durable than other leading models.
