OnePlus Smartphones to Be Pulled from 4,500 Retail Stores Across South & West India

OnePlus devices, including OnePlus smartphones, will not be available for sale at 4,500 stores across 23 retail chains in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The mobile phone retail chain has decided to stop selling OnePlus products from May 1 due to issues including narrow profit margins, warranty and repair delays.

The South Indian Organized Retailers Association (ORA) has written to OnePlus in this regard. In that letter, throughout the past year, we have encountered significant hurdles in selling OnePlus products that remain unresolved. We look forward to a very fruitful collaboration with OnePlus.

Sustaining our business is challenging, especially amid rising operational and financial costs, as OnePlus products continue to have low profit margins. Also, persistent delays and problems in processing warranty and service claims led to customer dissatisfaction.

Also, as the issues remain unresolved, unfortunately, we have no option but to stop selling your products in our stores,” South Indian Organized Retailers Association President Sridhar DS said in a letter to the sales director of OnePlus India.

Further, we would like to inform you of our collective decision to stop the retail sale of OnePlus products in our establishments with effect from May 1, 2024, he said in the letter.

ORA, the registered association of organized retail chains in India, has 23 members including Purvika, Sangeetha, Big C and Pooja in South and West regions. Unless OnePlus intervenes and resolves this issue with the Retailers Association, the company’s around 4,500 stores will not sell OnePlus devices.

If OnePlus devices are not available in retail stores, OnePlus’ market in India is said to take a big hit.
