Every year lakhs of Indians visit India’s neighboring country Nepal. Besides, a large amount of trade takes place across the border. Marriage between the people of both the countries is quite common. However, one has to face a lot of problems in terms of transactions. The first problem is to convert the money into local currency. Also online payment cannot be done. However, now all the problems are over, because the Indian Unified Payment Interface (UPI) service has been implemented in Nepal. In such a situation, anyone will be able to make online payment by scanning the QR code.
UPI service started between India and Nepal
NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), the international arm of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and PhonePe Payment Services Limited, have jointly announced the payment gateway in Nepal. In such a situation, now UPI has started for cross border transactions between India and Nepal. This means that Indians traveling to Nepal will be able to make QR-code based online payments through the UPI app on their smartphones.
UPI service is live in these countries
Apart from Nepal, Indian UPI service is available in many countries including Singapore, Canada, Oman, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Let us tell you that UPI service has been rolled out across India. However, now NPCE is promoting UPI service abroad also, so that the travelers going abroad do not face any problem in making online payment. For this, NPCI is in touch with the government of other countries.
