On September 9, Fouad Chafik, a former Moroccan international football player, discovered videos of the earthquake in the province of Al-Haouz when he woke up with his wife. And scrolls with desolation on his smartphone the images of the collapsed buildings of the village of Aït Youssef, where his parents were born and where he spent a large part of his childhood. “We had to act urgently, it would have taken some time to contact associations. Upheavals of opinion

And then, there are the more disturbing mobilizations, like the kitty launched by the far-right polemicist Jean Messiha, bringing together, in July, more than 1.6 million euros. A tidy sum intended for the family of the police officer indicted for intentional homicide after the death of Nahel M., 17, during a road check in Nanterre on June 27. This initiative had provoked the indignation of many left-wing elected officials and part of the public, and the teenager’s family had filed a complaint against the former spokesperson for Eric Zemmour’s presidential campaign.
