New cases of online fraud are coming to light every day. One such case has been registered in Bihar, in which the bank account has been emptied without a phone call and OTT. Every user should be aware of such online fraud, so that the possibilities of online fraud can be reduced.
What was the matter?
Actually, a video has been posted by IPS Pankaj Nain on the social media platform X, in which online fraud has been carried out with the help of land registry. In this fraud, sensitive information of the customer like name, Aadhaar card, biometric details like fingerprints were extracted from the land portal website of Andhra Pradesh. After this, the bank account was emptied with the help of fake thumb impression and Aadhaar card.
Fraud happened through AePS system
In fact, to simplify the banking system, the government had started the facility of withdrawing money through Aadhar card and biometric details, which is known as AePS service. Online fraud has been carried out using this service. This service is used in areas where the banking system is not available. In such places, many agents provide the facility of withdrawing money through Aadhar and biometric.
How to protect yourself
- You should always keep your Aadhaar card details safe. For this, masked Aadhaar card should be used.
- Users should lock Aadhaar card biometric data from UIDAI website.
- Aadhaar and biometric details should not be shared with anyone for new SIM card or anyone else.
- Aadhar card should be used wisely.
