Deputies of the State Duma will soon submit to the lower house of parliament an inter-factional bill on the obligation of Internet platforms to notify users of the upcoming deduction of subscription fees. This was reported to Vedomosti by MP Anton Nemkin (United Russia) and confirmed by State Duma Vice Speaker Vladislav Davankov (New People). This is primarily about subscriptions to audio and video content.
“It is necessary to enshrine in the legislation the obligation for services to notify customers at least a day in advance about debiting funds for a subscription,” Nemkin told Vedomosti. Such a notification should contain the date the payment was debited, information on how to terminate the subscription, as well as a link to the platform where you can unsubscribe, the deputy noted.
