With the same firmness as Aragorn in the Fellowship of the Ring, Viggo Mortensen did not remain silent when asked about the present of Argentine society, a place where he lived until he was eleven years old and – as the tango says – he is always returning. When asked, the Hollywood actor portrayed that “only less than 1 percent of Argentina is economically benefited by this clown,” he said, regarding Milei and that the rest of the population is suffering the consequences of a brutal adjustment.

Mortensen’s words came in an interview with Spanish state television. There he described Argentine citizens in a few words: “HHistorically, it is a very resilient people. They are used to continually recovering.to be in horrible situations like this,” he stressed. And, as seen in the video, he continued with the qualification of the current president.

“Only less than 1% of Argentina would benefit economically from this clowna puppet of the right, manipulated by others. And for the rest of the people it is a total disaster,” he said.

The singer had already criticised the founder of La Libertad Avanza a few months ago. On that occasion, he had said that he is a disaster for the arts and cinema, but also for ordinary people, normal people, those from the interior, outside the province of Buenos Aires. “And this is going to drag on for a long time and they will have to recover one day when this clown disappears,” he stressed.

At the time, Mortensen expressed solidarity with his colleagues at the National Institute of Film and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) after its closure. “In Argentina, going to see movies in theaters has always been a sociocultural act, but today it has become an essential sociopolitical act,” he concluded.
