Big disappointment in Qatar. The Reuters news agency published today (Thursday) a report by the organizers of the World Cup, in which it appears that only a little more than 765 thousand tourists arrived during the first two weeks of the World Cup games.

The report stated that the Qataris expected a higher number of tourists at the biggest football event in the world – 1.2 million people.

A huge increase in the number of visitors at this stage is unlikely as only eight teams remain in Doha, and eight games remain of the 64 in the tournament which began on November 20.

Organizers announced that the peak period for international visitors was between November 24 and 28, when the 32 teams played four matches each day.

During the games themselves, there was severe criticism of the empty stands, and even more so after the organizers published false figures, with a much higher amount than the stadiums actually contained.
