“‘Light In Action’, the strategic plan of the Moroccan National Tourist Office continues its objectives, particularly in terms of air travel and the establishment of direct point-to-point lines capable of boosting the country’s tourist activity. The latest action to date, the opening of two new strategic lines for the winter of 2023-2024; The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and Transavia, the low-cost company of the Air France-KLM group, are strengthening their partnership with the opening of new lines to Dakhla and Errachidia,” the Office said in a press release.
“Dakhla and Errachidia are two tourist destinations with strong development potential that it is important to support. Today, with these new international connections, they will be able to benefit from a new flow of international tourists and improve their performance,” said ONMT CEO Adel El Fakir, quoted in the press release.
For Dakhla, the company has just agreed to relaunch the Paris-Dakhla line by increasing the frequency, this time with 2 frequencies per week. The flights will be operated from October 30, every Monday and Friday, in order to facilitate access and boost weekend getaways.
Let us recall that the line had already been launched, for the first time, in 2018 with a frequency per week but stopped in 2020. Transavia was the first company to operate Paris–Dakhla.
Dakhla will thus benefit from 3 direct international flights. Royal Air Maroc (RAM), with the support of ONMT, had launched a direct flight between Paris and Dakhla in 2021 which is still operational and which records good results in terms of occupancy.
Transavia is also launching a new direct line between Paris and Errachidia, with one weekly flight operated every Sunday. This is the first time that the city will be connected internationally.
Errachidia will thus be able to develop its desert and oasis tourist offering and be connected to the whole of Europe, with Paris acting as a Hub.
In addition, the company will strengthen its service to Marrakech from the French province with the opening of direct lines Rennes–Marrakech and Brest–Marrakech.
These new openings, which will be online on the company’s website tomorrow, July 17, 2023, strengthen the ONMT – Transavia partnership and give even more importance to its presence on the destination. Morocco is in the top 3 destinations in Transavia’s portfolio.
Indeed, for the current summer season, the ONMT – Transavia partnership covers 331,884 seats to Morocco departing from France, an increase of 53.41% compared to summer 2022. The increase in the partnership covering tourist lines is even more significant compared to 2019 with an increase of 280%.
Thus, the ONMT, through its “Light In Action” action plan, in consultation with tourism professionals and in line with the roadmap of the supervisory ministry, contributes to opening up regions and stimulating international demand.
