Students are protesting to stop student politics in Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET). The current and former students of the institution also gave their opinion in favor and against it.

This time popular actress Opi Karim expressed her position in favor of banning student politics in BUET. At the same time, he declared solidarity with the protesting students as a former Buetian.

Opi Karim wrote on his Facebook on Thursday (April 4), ‘As a former student and alumni of BUET, I am in favor of banning all forms of student politics in BUET. I stand in solidarity with the movement of the current students of BUET and wish them success.’

Opi Karim wrote on the hashtag of this post, ‘No Student Politics in Buet’.

On October 6, 2019, BUET student Abrar Fahad was beaten to death by BCL leaders and activists. The court sentenced 20 people to death and five to life imprisonment in the case filed in that incident. All the sentenced are leaders and workers of BCL. After the killing of Abrar Fahad, the authorities banned student politics in the BUET campus.

Meanwhile, some leaders and activists entered the BUET campus under the leadership of the Chhatra League president at midnight on March 27. The general students of BUET got angry about the matter. And as part of the movement, they boycotted all academic activities including term final exams. On the other hand, Chhatra League held a protest rally on March 31 to introduce student politics in BUET.
