Open day – “Cast off”: Ship ahoy at the Wörthersee fleet

by time news

There was a large crowd at the Wörthersee shipping open day on Saturday. The official start of the season will be on April 9th.

After a three-year Corona break, Wörthersee-Schifffahrt once again invited to the open day in the eastern bay of Klagenfurt. “We opened up at 9 a.m., the first visitors to the shipyard flea market were already queuing at 8 a.m.,” says Managing Director Franz Huditz. Many would like to have rare treasures such as steering wheels and life jackets at home. Bright children’s eyes and pure nostalgia A magic show delighted the children, and a floating bridal salon was set up on a ship. The visitors’ attention was drawn to the DS Thalia from 1909, one of the last screw steamers in Europe, as well as the nostalgic ships Loretto and Lorelei, which are also 99 years old. Those interested could set sail on the “Krone” ship. The professional fire brigade presented their boat, and the police ship also docked. At the start of the season on April 9th, it’s time again: “Cast off!”
