With the aim of continuing education and the promotion of the latest data in research and patient management in the field of Gastroenterology, the 15th Hepato-Gastroenterology Event is being held in Ioannina with pan-Hellenic participation.

The work of the Congress started today at the Hotel Du Lac and will be completed on Sunday, September 24.

The focus is on topics such as public health, idiopathic inflammatory bowel diseases – ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, upper digestive tract, small intestine, biliary tract – pancreas, liver and lower digestive tract.

The organization is an initiative of the Institute of Internal Pathology and Hepato-Gastroenterology (INEPG) and the Gastroenterology Clinic of PGNI with the dynamic participation of all Gastroenterologists at a pan-Hellenic level as well as colleagues from other specialties.

“Our goal is continuous information. Achieving long-term remission in chronic diseases is very important. The combination of effective conservative treatments with the implementation of systematic surveillance programs (e.g. colonoscopy, surveillance chromoendoscopy) has led to a significant reduction in the incidence of serious diseases and contributes to the early diagnosis of serious conditions.” The organization of the conference aims to discuss all issues related to progress in the diagnosis and new treatments of gastrointestinal and hepatological diseases. We have the honor of hosting distinguished colleagues from all over Greece”, says the president of INEPIG, professor of Gastroenterology of PGNI, D. Christodoulou.

This year, on the occasion of the organization of the 15th Hepato-Gastroenterological Event, an informative event will be held for the public as part of the information activities on Idiopathic Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) by the Hellenic Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Group. The central message aims to show that, despite the fact that IBDs are chronic diseases that affect the daily life of patients, the majority of people with IBDs can today live a normal life without special limitations. A necessary condition for achieving this goal is the continuous information and support of patients from doctors and the health system.

The event will take place with the coordination of journalist Vikis Flessa on Sunday, September 24 at 11.30 at the Du Lac hotel and will begin with the greeting of Mr. Christodoulou.

Afterwards, the program includes suggestions from members of the Board of Directors. of EOMIFNE and doctors from Ioannina. In particular, the speakers will be the director of the Gastroenterology Department at the General Hospital of Athens “O Evangelismos – Polyclinic of Athens” Nikolaos Viazis, the professor of Gastroenterology at the General Hospital of Thessaloniki “Hippokrateio” Olga Iuleme, the director of the Gastroenterology Clinic of the 401 General Military Hospital of Athens Christos Liatsos , the gastroenterologist Konstantinos Masalas, the professor of Gastroenterology at the Thoracic General Hospital of Athens “Sotiria” Georgios Bamias, the gastroenterologist at PGNI Alexandros Skamnelos, the gastroenterologist – hepatologist dr. Dimitrios Syggunas and the gastroenterologist at the General Hospital of Nice-Piraeus “Agios Panteleimon” and at the General Hospital of Western Attica “Agia Varvara” Maria Tzouvala.
