The Open Market Foodgrains Sale (OMS) program has been launched with the aim of providing price support to low income groups and stabilizing the market prices by curbing the upward trend in market prices of foodgrains.

On Sunday (August 18), sales activities have started in various districts including the capital Dhaka.

4 districts including the capital (Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur and Narsingdi), 10 other city corporations (Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Narayanganj, Gazipur and Comilla) and a total of 986 centers of all district headquarters municipalities under the OMS program. And flour is being sold.

As per the Open Market Foodgrains Sale (OMS) Policy, 2015, rice and flour are sold in this program from 9 am to 5 pm. Under the OMS programme, currently the consumer selling price of rice is Tk 30 per kg and the consumer selling price of open flour is Tk 24 per kg and in case of packet flour Tk 55 per packet of 2 kg.

Three deputy secretaries of the Ministry of Food. Kamruzzaman, Md. Abul Amin and Md. 3 teams under the leadership of Abu Nasar Uddin visited various OMS centers of rationing area D-6, D-7 and D-8 respectively.
