Two medals on the first day and two on the second. The Italian national team has won two silver medals and two bronze medals at the halfway point of the World Aquatics Open Water Swimming Junior World Championships, the open water youth world championships held in the body of water in front of Mugoni beach, in the Porto Conte Natural Park, in Alghero.
On the first day, dedicated to the 10km reserved for athletes aged 18 and 19, silver in the women’s race, with Chiara Sanzullo, who played for victory in the sprint with Clair Stuhlmacher, losing the gold by just 3 tenths of a second.
In the men’s 10km, bronze went to Vincenzo Caso, who was unable to overtake Polish Piotr Wozniak in the final.
Today, in the men’s 7.5km (16 and 17 year olds), Davide Grossi came close to winning the world championship gold, finishing just a tenth of a second behind the winner, Turkey’s Emir Albayark.
In the women’s 5km (14- and 15-year-olds at the start), Mahila Spennato reached the lowest step of the podium, 9″ behind the first place winner, the American Brinkleigh Hansen.
