Mumbai: Describing Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal as capable of playing in any conditions, West Indies great batsman Brian Lara on Tuesday said that he will have to make some mental adjustments during the upcoming Australia tour. Jaiswal has scored 929 runs in eight Test matches at an average of 66.35, which includes two centuries and six half-centuries. Lara said, ‘He has the ability to play in any conditions. I have seen him in the West Indies. The pitches in Australia will be different but if you have this kind of ability then you can play well in every situation. He said, ‘I hope he plays well.’ He said that Jaiswal will have to make some mental adjustments to be successful in Australia.
Lara said, ‘The harmony is that you have to have confidence in yourself that you can play well in every situation. Well, the situation has changed in India now. So many international players are coming to IPL. Your players have different types of competition which is a good thing. So I don’t think there is a need to do much technically.
He said, ‘Just playing away from home and playing against Australia on their soil is a different thing. But I believe that the Indian team is capable of winning. Let us tell you that Yashasvi Jaiswal has currently become one of the most destructive openers of India.
Praising the Indian team’s attitude of playing aggressively and winning the rain-affected Kanpur Test against Bangladesh, Lara said, ‘India created an opportunity for itself. I was happy to see that we did not get much time to play but despite that, India put pressure on Bangladesh by batting like this.
