## Artificial intelligence holds immense potential despite early stage
“Artificial Intelligence (AI) is still in its nascent stages compared to other technologies,” said Jason Kwon, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, at the ‘Seoul AI Policy Conference 2024.’ He believes that with continued investment and utilization, there are many positive things that humanity can achieve with advanced AI.
Kwon emphasized the potential of AI technology, citing the low adoption rates of ChatGPT in Korea (1 million daily active users) and the U.S. (less than 20%), suggesting that AI is still an emerging market with untold possibilities.
Regarding concerns about the safety of rapid AI development, Kwon stressed the importance of ensuring control over the technology to prevent it from exceeding human intentions. He emphasized the need to address safety concerns as AI capabilities evolve.
He also addressed the issue of AI models not reflecting the diversity and culture of different countries, stating that as a model developer, he is mindful of applying technology in various countries with varying technological and resource limitations.
