The Amadou Dieng University campus of Labé is hosting on August 27 and 28, 2023, a thematic workshop for the production and proposal of reform texts on the youth component of gender. It was at 10 a.m. sharp that the work was launched in the presence of the governor of the administrative region of Labé, Colonel Robert Soumah, the mayor of the urban commune of Labé, Mamadou Aliou Laly Diallo, Mountaga Sylla, Country Director of lFES Sékou Doré, representative of the president of the CNT.

This two-day activity is organized by the National Transitional Council (CNT) with the technical support of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) in its Support for Transition and Electoral Processes (STEP) project under funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

This workshop is part of achieving the objective of supporting a more inclusive process both in the process of drafting texts and in the implementation of electoral operations to take into account the gender.

According to the organizers, the objective is to support the CNT in understanding and producing basic proposals for the development of texts to take into account the youth dimension in legal reforms.

“At the end of the workshop, participants will have: A good knowledge of the nation’s youth inclusion in political and electoral processes: Good practices and Comparative Analysis; The capacities of young people in the field of gender-sensitive law-making are strengthened; Proposals for the wording of the texts are formulated“, are among other things the expected results.

In his speech, Mamadou Aliou Laly Diallo highlighted the joy that animates him to see the representatives of young people from all over Guinea converge in Labé without forgetting to thank the partners who facilitated this communion.

During this workshop sixty (60) young leaders from the prefectures of Guinea and the communes of Conakry as well as members of the National Councils of the Transition (CNT), the executives of the Ministry of Youth will exchange around these themes: Concept on the inclusion of young people in political and electoral processes: Good practices and Comparative Analysis; Presentation of the Mission and role of the National Youth Council and institutionalization of the National Youth Day; Writing gender-sensitive text.
