A meeting of the joint working group of the two countries will be held in August regarding the opening of the Malaysian labor market. State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury said that the date of dispatch of workers will be known.

The state minister said, I have written a letter to the Malaysian government about the workers who could not go. We have a joint working group meeting next month, we will know when the labor market opens.

The state minister said these things to reporters after a courtesy meeting with the Malaysian ambassador in Dhaka at the office of the state minister for expatriate welfare on Thursday (July 25).

Regarding the workers who could not go to Malaysia, the state minister said, Bayra told us that 70 percent of the workers who could not go have been refunded. We have told Bayra, after receiving the money that the workers have paid, they will sign the agreement that we have received the money. Then the buyers will send us that list. Then it will be known how many people have received money. So, I can’t say exactly how many workers have received money.

He also said that legal action will be taken against the recruiting agencies if the full amount is not returned.

Stating that work is going on to create a new labor market, he further said that under the direction of the Prime Minister, we are working to create new jobs abroad. For this reason, the workers should be converted into skilled manpower and sent abroad.

Regarding the punishment of Bangladeshis in the United Arab Emirates issue, the state minister said, I spoke to you about this yesterday. Today I say again, they should be aware of the laws of the country where they live. By protesting in Dubai, expatriates are defying the law and ruining the image of Bangladesh abroad. For this they have been punished for different periods. We will not interfere with convicted expatriates. It is their state affairs.

The state minister also said that the majority of expatriates contributed to the development of Bangladesh. The labor market of Bangladesh abroad is now trying to destroy a sector. I think the ghosts of 71 war criminals Jamaat-BNP are involved in these anti-state activities.
