Organized for the 2nd time in Burundi, this regional event takes place under the theme “Safe space, new experiences” and brings together on Murago Hill 1034 delegates from 34 out of 42 countries of the African Region with the aim of sharing and learning, indicated Mr Kama-Kama Frédéric, Regional Director, BMS-Africa who considers the presence of the Head of State at this event as “an eloquent sign of his attachment to scouting and to the young people of whom he was made champion by the African Union”.

Delivering the speech of circumstance, the Burundian Number One did not hide his admiration for scouting in view of the different articles of the Scout Law which, according to him, should guide other young people.

“Scouts are people of good faith, that is why we would like all young people to adopt your conduct,” declared the Head of State, calling on young scouts to develop the cultural values ​​of Ubuntu while fighting idleness in order to contribute to the innovation and development of their respective countries.

President Ndayishimiye also urged all scouts in general and those of Burundi in particular to take the lead in strengthening public order and social cohesion; hygiene and cleanliness without forgetting the protection of the environment.

This regional event was marked by the kick-off by the Head of State for the planting of trees on Murago Hill in accordance with the Scout Law which calls on members of this movement to preserve the environment.

It should be noted that at the end of these ceremonies, the President of the Republic solemnly inaugurated the “Gitega Luxe Hotel” built in the Nyamugari district and belonging to Mr Blaise Munezero, a native of Gitega Province. He welcomed this initiative which aims to promote local development.
