As part of the security operation for national holidays, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) launched the “Drive without alcohol” program this Wednesday in the 16 municipalities, with the aim of safeguarding the physical integrity of people in Mexico City.

The operation will take place from September 11 to 16 at 15 randomly selected mobile points, with the support of 19 uniformed officers for greater coverage, the agency said.

During the day, enforcement will be carried out at the entrances and exits to the city, to verify that drivers are not driving under the influence of alcohol. In addition, visits will be made to restaurants and bars to promote responsible consumption and friendly tests will be applied, the SSC explained.

During the night shifts, a greater number of checkpoints will be installed to provide coverage in the 16 municipalities, with special attention to the primary roads of the City.

In view of the celebrations, the SSC urged motorists not to drive after drinking alcoholic beverages, in order to prevent accidents during these national holidays, as well as throughout the year.

He also recalled that current traffic regulations specifically prohibit driving when one has an unpermitted amount of alcohol in the blood, as well as under the influence of narcotics, narcotics or psychotropic drugs.
