Bareilly: A smuggler, her husband and an accomplice, who was carrying two kilos of opium in her stomach while pretending to be pregnant, were arrested in Bareilly. The value of the recovered opium is said to be Rs 40 lakh in the international market. Narcotics Department Unit Bareilly was getting information about some people of Aliganj area smuggling opium and smack.
The informer informed about three people including a couple carrying a large quantity of opium on Thursday night. Told that opium will be purchased in Bisharatganj area. The team of Narcotics Department contacted Bisharatganj Inspector Deepchandra and laid a trap. When smuggler Mamta alias Kusum was caught, she started declaring herself pregnant. When the women constables included in the team investigated, they found two kg opium packets tied in Mamta’s stomach. Police also arrested Mamta’s husband Jagat Singh and his associate Bechelal. Smuggler Jagat Singh resident of village Gurjarpura Majra Dhaneti Kharagpur police station Aliganj told that he is a farmer.
