“Oppenheimer” and “Poor Creatures” are main winners of the Bafta film awards

The films “Oppenheimer”, about the ‘father’ of the atomic bomb, and “Poor Creatures”, by the Greek Yorgos Lanthimos, were two of the main winners of the Bafta awards ceremony, which took place this Sunday at the Royal Albert Hall in London , England.

Of the 13 nominations, Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” received seven awards, including Best Director, Best Lead Actor, for Cillian Murphy, and Best Film.

In his acceptance speech, Christopher Nolan thanked Universal Studios for allowing his team to “do something dark, recognizing the potential of it”.

In addition to “Oppenheimer”, “Poor Creatures” also won the Baftas, winning five awards, including Best Leading Actress for Emma Stone.

North American Da’Vine Joy Randolph received the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film “The Outcasts”, by Alexander Payne, and “The Zone of Interest” earned director Jonathan Glazer the award for Outstanding British Film and Best Film in a language other than English. The Oscar for Best Original Screenplay went to “Anatomy of a Fall”, by Justine Triet and Arthur Harari.

Other popular films in recent months, such as “Barbie”, “Saltburn”, “Maestro” and “Killers of the Flower Moon”, did not receive any awards.

Tom Cruise, Michael J. Fox and Prince William were some of the participants in the ceremony that precedes the big night of the Oscars, on March 10th (until then, the Screen Actors Guild Awards will also be handed out on February 24th).
