KINSHASA – Former senior UDPS executive and current opponent Jean-Marc Kabund was convicted by the Court of Cassation in the case between him and the public prosecutor. The verdict fell this Wednesday, September 13, 2023 during the public hearing organized for the case.

The Court confirmed the charges brought by the Public Prosecutor against Mr. Kabund who received 7 years of main penal servitude.

National deputy and president of the political party, Alliance for Change (A.Ch), the Court found him guilty of contempt of parliament, insulting the head of state, as well as spreading false rumors.

After distancing himself from the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS), Mr. Kabund began to oppose Felix Tshisekedi whom he considers “a public danger at the top of the State” following its management done in a “no matter what” manner. Jean-Marc Kabund had considered the management of President Tshisekedi as “a trial and error”. According to him, “the danger is the misery of the people, the insecurity in the east of the country, the insecurity in Kinshasa, urban banditry etc. The danger is the total absence of a coherent social program, the absence of a clear program at the top of the State.”

Mr. Kabund believes that the people must no longer vote for Tshisekedi and must do everything possible to ensure that he is not at the head of the country.
