New Delhi: There is good news for Delhiites. Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has brought the gift of affordable houses. DDA has launched around 40,000 flats under three schemes to sell its unsold houses and meet the growing demand for affordable houses in Delhi. DDA is selling these houses at affordable prices, especially in the LIG and MIG categories. Many of these flats are in prime areas of Delhi, where modern transport systems like Delhi Metro are available.

34,000 flats on ‘first come first serve’ basis

Under the first scheme DDA Sasta Ghar Housing Scheme, 2024, about 34,000 flats are being given on ‘first come first serve’ basis. The starting price of these flats is Rs 11.5 lakh. These are located in Ramgarh Colony, Siraspur, Rohini, Narela and Loknayakpuram in North West Delhi. These flats are for low income group (LIG) and economically weaker section (EWS). They are being given at concessional rates.

The second scheme DDD Samanya Awas Yojana 2024 is offering 5,400 flats. These flats are divided into high income group (HIG), middle income group (MIG) and LIG categories. Located in prime areas like Jasola, Narela and Loknayakpuram, these flats have a starting price of Rs 29 lakh. The price of these flats has been kept at 2023 rates to provide relief from the constant increase in house prices.

Properties are being sold at a discount of 15%

Another housing scheme, DDA Dwarka Awas Yojana 2024, is offering 173 flats in the fast-developing Dwarka suburb. These flats, which fall in MIG and LIG categories, are located in Sector 14, 16B and 19B of Dwarka. They are priced at Rs 1.28 crore and above.

According to the DDA, these ready-to-move-in, freehold properties are being sold at a discount of 15% to the market. “Ready-to-move-in, freehold properties are being sold at a discount of 15% to the market,” says the DDA. Apart from clearing its inventory, these schemes will help people get affordable homes in Delhi, where private builders are focusing only on luxury homes priced above Rs 2 crore.
