Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has become the second state in the country to have the highest number of Kovid deaths. According to government figures, 42,579 people have died in the state due to Kovid infection or its aftermath. The death toll rose after appeals were confirmed that the deaths were not included in the Kovid figures. With this, the opposition’s allegation that Kovid’s death was hoarded by the health department in the state or that Kovid’s death was not taken into account proved to be true.
In Kerala, the Case Fatility Rate (CFR) ratio of Kovid victims and their subsequent deaths has increased to 0.81 per cent. Six months ago, Kerala’s CFR was 0.41 per cent. Kovid has affected 51 lakh people in Kerala. Of these, 42579 have died so far, according to confirmed figures. This makes Kerala the second most lethal state after Maharashtra. 1.41 lakh people died in Maharashtra. The CFR is 2.13%. The reason given here is that it is a larger state than Kerala. But the fact that the CFR is lower than us in all the other bigger states than Kerala is a setback for the health department.
A total of 12826 deaths, which were not included in the government figures, have now been added. The death toll in Kerala has risen as the list has been expanded to include those who have been discharged from hospitals, those who have been reported from districts but have been excluded at the state level and those who have been included as per the revised guidelines of the Central Government. The death toll has risen in districts including Idukki, where the Opposition has from the outset raised the issue of widespread avoidance or hoarding.
