On July 20th at 2:00 p.m., Bogotá’s Plaza de Bolívar will be the scene of a sit-in organized by activists and opposition members to express their discontent with President Gustavo Petro.

This protest is led by Josias Fiesco, coordinator of activism and militancy of the group and former candidate for the Bogotá council; Francisco Santos Calderón, former vice president of Colombia; Enrique Gómez, former candidate for president; and Germán Rodríguez.

The call, presented as a political trial against the constituent assembly, aims to express citizen dissatisfaction with the Petro government’s proposals, including the constituent assembly, the reforms promoted by his administration and the so-called fast track. The protesters will also demand that the Impeachment Commission advance its investigations against the president.

“You, reservist: if you live with dignity, do not honor Petro. Better support the opposition and together we demand the IMPEACHMENT of the president on July 20th,” commented Germán Rodríguez.

Francisco Santos invited citizens to join the protest: “Insecurity, corruption, unpresentable ministers, Petro’s repeated lies? Are you tired of so much disrespect towards our country? GREAT CITIZEN SIT-IN FOR FREEDOM, DEMOCRACY AND THE CONSTITUTION!”

The meeting is on Saturday, July 20, at 2:00 p.m., in the Plaza de Bolívar in Bogotá. “Colombians who value freedom, democracy and the Constitution will meet in a citizen protest to raise our voices in defense of our country,” concluded Santos.
