Delhi: The Monsoon Session of Parliament resumed today after a weekend break, but the Manipur issue continued to dominate the proceedings. Opposition parties, led by the India Alliance MPs, protested in front of the Gandhi statue in the Parliament, demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi address the issue.

Inside the Lok Sabha, opposition MPs raised slogans condemning the Manipur issue, causing disruptions in the House. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla attempted to pacify them, but their agitation did not subside. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, in an attempt to calm the situation, announced that the issue would be discussed in the Lok Sabha. However, the opposition parties demanded Prime Minister Modi’s presence and a statement from him in the Lok Sabha.

Opposition MPs continued to raise slogans in the Lok Sabha, emphasizing their demand. As a result, the Lok Sabha was adjourned first till 12 noon, and then again till 2 o’clock.

Simultaneously, in the Rajya Sabha, Speaker and Vice President Jagadeep Dhankar was conducting the proceedings. Amid constant slogans regarding the Manipur issue from MPs such as Trinamool Congress MP Derrick O’Brien, Dhankar reprimanded O’Brien, stating, “Take a seat. You’re challenging the chair itself.” The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon shortly after.

Even after the Rajya Sabha reconvened at 12 o’clock, the MPs continued to disrupt the proceedings, resulting in another adjournment till 2 o’clock. Additionally, Rajya Sabha Speaker Jagdeep Dhankar ordered the suspension of Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh for the entire session, accusing him of involvement in illegal activities.

The Manipur issue remains a pressing matter for the opposition parties, who are determined to see Prime Minister Modi address it personally. As the Monsoon Session of Parliament continues, the focus remains on resolving this issue and ensuring a fruitful discussion in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
