The Secretary to the President has responded to the allegations leveled against former President Maithripala Sirisena by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Voice Against Corruption Vasantha Samarasinghe.

Member of Parliament Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in association with the Voice Against Corruption, exposed massive corruption involving the Rajapaksa family, politicians and government officials during a special press conference yesterday.

Member of Parliament Dissanayake and convener of the Voice Against Corruption Vasantha Samarasinghe said former head of state Maithripala Sirisena and his family had benefited from the central bank bailout.

Former Secretary of State Sameera de Silva, who has denied the allegations, said in a statement that the allegations were baseless and false.

He added that the former head of state had worked hard to set up various commissions and take them to the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka to uncover the truth behind the bail fraud.
