Opposition parties have stated they will not run for office until Imran Khan’s nominee, former chief justice Kulsar Ahmed, is sworn in as caretaker Prime Minister. Pakistani President Arif Ali Zardari has ordered parliamentary elections to be held within 90 days. In Pakistan, a coalition of opposition parties passed a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan on March 28. The no-confidence motion was debated in Parliament on the 31st. Then on the 3rd there was a vote in Parliament. Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri ordered the rejection of the resolution.
Following this, President Arif Alvi ordered the dissolution of parliament on the recommendation of Prime Minister Imran Khan. In this regard, the Supreme Court of the country has voluntarily filed a case and is investigating. The trial of the case was held for the 3rd day yesterday. The five-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Omar Ada Pundi, then ordered a report to the court on the details of the National Security Council meeting. It also sought clarification on the evidence that there was a foreign conspiracy to overthrow the regime.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan has recommended to President Arif Alvi to appoint former Chief Justice of Pakistan Kulsar Ahmed as the caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan. Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections. The ensuing political turmoil in Pakistan has reached a climax. Arif Alvi has written a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer stating that this has forced Pakistan to hold immediate parliamentary elections. In it, he ordered that the general election be held within 90 days and that the date of the election be decided and communicated to him immediately.
