Opposition to setting up chipot in Annoor: Our land is our organization to solve problems

The government has decided to set up Chipgat in 6 villages in Mettupalayam and Annoor Unions of Coimbatore and issued an order for the acquisition of 3731 acres of land.

Many people including the 6 village panchayat people and farmers are protesting against this. They also staged various stages of protests, including motorcades, marches and shop closures, to protest against the construction of Sipkot. Various parties also supported this protest of farmers.

In this case, protest committee offices have been opened in 17 places through the organization called Our Land Name.

Offices have been opened in Akkarai Chengapally, Kunnipalayam, Pacchakauntanur, Nakhalepalayam, Selambaragauntanputhur, Taniyapalayam, Karianur, Solavampalayam, Alanguttay, Kariyakauntanur, Ottagamandalam, Rasadi Pokalur, Ananapalliputtur, Athikuttaya, Kolliyur Magali Amman Temple areas.

In this regard, Ravikumar, the president of our Nilam Namade Farmers’ Welfare Association, and Raja, the secretary, said:-

We have been struggling to insist that the Tamil Nadu government should abandon the plan to set up an industrial park. A total of 17 offices were opened starting from Akkarai Chengapally. Farmers should inform this office if there is any attempt by the government authorities to acquire the land or if there is movement of outsiders.

17 flying squadrons have also been set up to help farmers. If there is a problem, flying troops will rush to those areas and help the farmers.

It has been decided to conduct a campaign walk on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Association to protest against the construction of industrial estates by selecting areas with agricultural land and irrigation facilities.

A plan to acquire agricultural lands should be taken up. Avinasi-Athikadavu scheme should protect the agricultural lands used. A campaign walk is being held on 18th, emphasizing that the government should establish a coordination committee considering the livelihood of the farmers.

District President of Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Association S. Palaniswami will start the campaign in Akkarai Chengapalli village.
