Former Turkish Airlines chief executive Ilker IC has reportedly refused to accept the post of new CEO of Tata’s Air India.
For the past five years, the central government has been trying to sell its stake in Air India, which has been reeling under debt. Talash Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, has asked for a price of Rs 18,000 crore. Following this, the Central Government officially announced the sale of Air India on October 8 last.
The central government has already formally transferred the shares of Air India to Tata Group. Following this, Air India was handed over to the Tata Group on January 27.
Ilker Ici, the former managing director of Turkish Airlines, was appointed on the 14th of last month amid speculation over who would be the new managing director. IC has been appointed CEO and Managing Director of Air India.
In a statement issued on Friday last week, the RSS’s native Jakran Munch protested against the appointment of a Turkish national as Air India’s director. It said, “Ilker IC, who has been appointed CEO of Air India, should not be given federal approval for national security reasons.”
SJM founder Aswani Mahajan said, “The federal government is already serious about the security of the nation and is now handling the matter carefully. We are not against the appointee. We only pointed out the security of the nation. All decisions are made on the basis of one’s relationships. “
Ilker Icy was born in 1971 in Istanbul. IC, who studied political science and public administration at Billkent University in 1994, completed his dissertation in 1995 at the University of Leeds in the UK in the field of political science. IC also completed a postgraduate degree in International Relations in 1997 at the University of Marmara in Istanbul.
