Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has sent a letter to European Union leaders saying Donald Trump is ready to end the war in Ukraine soon after he is likely to win the US presidential election in November.
Orban stressed that Trump had developed detailed and well-founded plans for achieving peace, which he presented in the letter.

Orban’s letter has caused a great deal of controversy and outrage among EU leaders, many of whom are considering taking emergency measures in response to the Hungarian prime minister’s actions.
Orban, who recently met with Trump and Vladimir Putin, as well as other world leaders, as part of his “peace mission,” noted that Trump plans to initiate peace talks between Ukraine and Russia immediately after winning the election, without waiting for his inauguration. Orban also called on European leaders to open a direct diplomatic channel with Russia and to start high-level talks with China to find a solution to the conflict. The Hungarian prime minister said his recent meetings with the presidents of Ukraine, Russia and China had convinced him of the need for greater EU involvement in the conflict resolution process.
Over the past two weeks, Orban has visited Ukraine, Russia, Azerbaijan, China and the United States, where he held talks with Volodymyr Zelensky, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping and Donald Trump.
