Tirupur: Senior citizens who have been given orders in Jamabandhi are waiting anxiously for three months without getting their stipend. Every year, when Jamabandi takes place, petitions are received from the public and welfare assistance is given to eligible applications. Welfare assistance was also provided in the Jamabandhi camps held last June. A large number of senior citizens were ordered to receive Rs 1,000 as monthly pension. But the rural poor are disappointed as funds have not been allocated for three months. In some taluks in Tirupur district, assistance is available to some of the order holders; It has been alleged that some others do not get it. As a result of not getting the pension, the rural poor and poor old people have started invading the taluk offices with concern. Due to insufficient financial allocation, some did not get the scholarship. “Soon, the financial allocation will be received and the stipend will be released,” they answered vaguely.
