The district administration on Thursday (Apr. 14) ordered the closure of liquor shops and liquor stores in the Madurai district on the occasion of Mahavira Jayanthi.
All liquor shops, liquor stores with recreational facilities and licensed liquor stores in Madurai district will be closed on the occasion of Mahavira Jayanthi. The government has ordered action against those involved in the sale of liquor in violation of the order, said S. Anish Sehga.
