Vast areas of the country are affected by severe floods. The most deplorable condition is Feni. Due to lack of electricity connection, almost all the mobile towers are down. The operators are trying to keep mobile towers running through generators. It’s a difficult situation.

Order to give free diesel to mobile tower generators in Feni

In this situation, the post, telecommunication and information technology adviser has ordered generators to supply free diesel to keep the mobile network running in Feni district. Nahid Islam.

He gave this urgent instruction on Saturday (August 24). This information was informed in the press release sent by Muhammad Jasim Uddin, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology at around 2 pm.

Giving this instruction to BTRC, Advisor Nahid Islam said that 78 mobile network towers of Feni are still operational even though there is no electricity connection. A lot of diesel is needed to keep the towers running. Currently, it is very important to keep mobile network towers operational during flood situations. Therefore BTRC is being instructed to provide free diesel to generators run by mobile operators to keep 78 mobile network towers operational.

According to a notification of the Ministry, 2.3 liters of diesel is used in portable generators (PG-75 KV) and 4.4 liters of diesel is used in generators (DG-30 KV) every hour. Accordingly, 78 generators require 6,552 liters of diesel per day. The price of which is 7 lakh 14 thousand 168 taka.

In seven days, 45 thousand 864 liters of diesel will be required, the cost will be 49 lakh 99 thousand 176 taka. This money is being given from the fund of BTRC under the guidance of Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Advisor.

According to BTRC information, as of 9 am today Saturday morning – about 92 percent of mobile towers in Feni are down. Due to this, telecommunication services were completely cut off in the district. In such a situation, the Army, BGB, Navy, Police, Red Crescent members and volunteers are struggling to carry out rescue and relief operations there.
