Order to produce Diana Kamake’s citizenship documents in court

Colombo (News 1st) The Court of Appeal has today (28) granted permission to consider the writ petition filed seeking the cancellation of State Minister Diana Gamage’s position as Member of Parliament.

State Minister Diana Gamage, Public Security Minister Dron Alas, Comptroller General of the Department of Immigration and Emigration, Chairman of the Elections Commission, Parliamentary Secretary General and Attorney General have been named as 15 defendants in the petition.

A bench of judges comprising Justices Sobitha Rajakaruna and Thammika Kanepola of the Appellate Court ordered that notice be sent to the defendants.

Actions have been taken to start the consideration of the petition on the 12th and the Court of Appeal has today (28) ordered the Comptroller General of Immigration and Immigration to immediately submit all documents related to Diana Gamage’s citizenship.

The petition has been filed by Ozatha Lakmal Herat seeking to declare Diana Gamage, a British citizen, unfit to hold the position of Member of Parliament and to revoke her position as Member of Parliament.
