The central bank has issued several guidelines to prevent the activity of note counterfeiters during the month of Ramzan. In the directive, videos containing the security features of bank notes to prevent counterfeiting are to be displayed in front of banks at 58 locations in the capital.
An instruction in this regard has been issued from the Department of Currency Management of Bangladesh Bank on Monday (March 18).
According to the instructions, video images containing the security features of bank notes should be broadcast at least 1 hour after evening at important public gathering places, Hatbazar shopping malls, bus terminals, railway stations and other departmental cities including Bogra district as per the scheduled schedule of Dhaka city and Bangladesh Bank branches in the month of Ramadan. The video image should be displayed on the TV monitors installed for the customers in the branches of the banks of the country throughout the banking hours.
While receiving and issuing high value notes in bank branches and before feeding money in ATM machines, notes should be mandatorily checked by counterfeit note detection machines. Within 10 working days after the end of the month of Ramadan, a pictorial report in favor of the implementation of the discussed instructions should be submitted to the Currency Management Department of the Central Bank.
