Madurai: People with disabilities are expressing their anguish as the decree to make work permanent has not been implemented even after 14 years.

In the last year 2006, employees including computer operators were appointed for various tasks including Sarva Sikh Sha Abhiyan, artist insurance scheme, television distribution with a salary of Rs.4 thousand.

Most of them are differently abled. The confederation of disabled associations demanded that they should be made permanent after 2 years.

Subsequently, the decree was issued on 16.10.2008. In it, it was informed that the government has ordered to pay periodical wages to those who have been working under lump sum for more than two years in various departments of the Tamil Nadu government.

After the change of government in 2011, many of the above projects came to an end. PWDs who have worked in them have been appointed in other departments.

But even after 14 years, the decree has not come into operation. Several consultations were held in this regard but to no avail. Disabled employees said that this ordinance should be implemented immediately.
