Chennai: A case has been filed in the High Court against former Chief Minister Palaniswami for issuing an ordinance with the names of women victims of sexual assault.

In this regard, Balachander from Chennai has said in the petition filed in the High Court:

Mental distress: In 2019, the issue of sexually assaulting and threatening college students and young women in Pollachi, and making a video of it, caused a great stir politically. In this regard, the police registered a case against 9 youths based on a complaint lodged by the brother of one of the victims. However, the police did not fully investigate the case. In the order issued by the Tamil Nadu government transferring the case to the CBI, the names of some of the victims and the complainant’s brother have been made public, leaving other victims unable to file complaints.

Therefore, the then District SP Panthiyarajan, who released the names of the victims, should be sacked. Similarly, the then Chief Minister Palaniswami and the then Chief Secretary, who had issued the decree with the names of the victims, petitioned the Tamil Nadu government for an inquiry in this regard, but no action was taken. Therefore, the Government of Tamil Nadu should be directed to take appropriate action on my petition submitted in January last year. He has requested this in the petition. The case will be heard soon. In 2019, the incident of sexual assault in Pollachi caused a great stir politically.
