“Morocco has often hosted major competitions and has sometimes been the only country to host a new competition. I am very grateful to Morocco for this,” Mr. Motsepe said in a statement to the press upon his arrival at Salé airport.
The CAF President also said he was “delighted” to visit Morocco again, a country that has “a deep commitment” to developing football in the Kingdom and throughout Africa.
He noted that he always feels gratitude when seeing the support provided by Morocco to many African countries and its contribution to the development of football on the continent.
Mr Motsepe insisted that football must above all be “a means to bring people together and build links between all our countries, because football is our passion”.
In this sense, he expressed his firm commitment to working towards relations based on trust in the various African countries.
Furthermore, the CAF President expressed his pride in the significant investments made in many African countries, including Morocco, believing that these investments will bear fruit.
On the other hand, Mr. Motsepe praised the level reached by women’s football in Africa, which, according to him, progresses every year, recalling that the last time he was in Morocco, a new attendance record for a women’s match was recorded, on the occasion of the Morocco-Nigeria match as part of the 2022 Women’s CAN.
The CAF President will attend the African Women’s Champions League final between AS FAR and Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) on Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
