According to data presented during the 2024 Open Days (JPO) of the Regional Civil Protection Command, marked in particular by the presence of civil and military officials, the results of interventions show a total of 30,424 interventions providing assistance to people, traffic accidents (7,302), fires (1,292), support and support (360), as well as 5,282 various other interventions.
These interventions, which were made public on the occasion of the celebration of World Civil Protection Day, held this year under the banner “innovative technologies at the service of Civil Protection”, required the mobilization of 181 elements, 60 ambulances, 38 fire trucks, 24 rescue machines, spread over 25 rescue centers which are located in the different provinces of the region, in addition to a center which is currently being built, it is specified.
On this occasion, the Provincial Commander of Civil Protection in Oujda-Angad, Commander Ali Khattab, stressed the importance of commemorating this international day, given the important role played by civil protection units in terms of planning, preparation and response to emergency situations, including environmental hazards and natural disasters, in addition to various accidents.
In a statement to MAP, Commander Khattab highlighted the importance of innovative technologies in the field of scientific research to respond to the main challenges of civil protection in the areas of risk assessment, prevention, preparedness and response, emphasizing the need to promote a culture of hazard and disaster prevention, and to intensify awareness programs aimed at citizens to encourage them to review their behavior in the face of risks.
“This annual meeting is intended to be a suitable opportunity to promote the importance of this organization and its missions,” the Provincial Commander insisted.
This event was marked by the presence of students who learned about the different equipment, mechanisms, means and techniques used in rescue and relief operations.
