In a statement to MAP, Mr. Sadiki indicated that these modern and important projects linked to aquaculture in the province of Nador are part of the Halieutis strategy, which accords great importance and priority to this sector, which promotes the development of wealth and the creation of job opportunities in the region.
“These aquaculture projects established in the region have a production capacity of 60,000 tonnes,” he said, noting that the objective is to reach between 100,000 to 150,000 tonnes of production at the national level.
And added that other projects are being implemented and benefit from incentives and support from the State and are of interest to investors, noting that the coasts of the Kingdom (3,500 km) offer major assets in this area. , capable of preserving natural fisheries wealth and rationalizing the management of the sector.
For his part, the president of the Commission on Productive Sectors, Jamal Diwani welcomed this visit which provided an opportunity for a certain number of representatives and parliamentary advisors to learn about the progress of aquaculture projects. , especially algae.
He underlined, in a similar statement, that this visit is also part of the evaluation and monitoring of public and sectoral policies, which demonstrates the efforts made in this framework, and augurs a bright future for investments in this vital sector.
Note that the Oriental region has many assets favorable to the emergence of a prosperous aquaculture industry. The aquaculture potential revealed by the Aquaculture development plan translates into an area of more than 2,200 hectares dedicated to offshore aquaculture, for a production capacity exceeding 102,000 tonnes, intended for shellfish farming, fish farming and seaweed farming.
Some 27 projects are currently being installed in the region, including 16 at the Marchica lagoon, 8 at Ras El Ma, 2 in Saidia and one project in Tibouda.
