This time it was the turn of the Taller Orígenes 2023 event, in Bauta, to have the privilege of celebrating the centenary of the memorable essayist and poet Fina García Marruz, an essential figure of the origin group and of all Cuban culture.

With Fina, the Taller Orígenes brought to the scene, in the Antonio Maceo municipal library, the name of this eminent woman along with that of another great one, her husband, also a poet and essayist Cintio Vitier, an essential student of Martí’s work and with notable work originist in the Bauta of the first half of the 20th century.

¨Everything that Fina touched turned into gold, it was not only characterized by beauty in writing, but also by depth¨, said the poet and essayist Virgilio López Lemus in his speech, while doctor Araceli García Carranza pondered the act of having directed two personalities of the stature of Cintio and Fina, who did not need any kind of leadership to carry out a brilliant work.

Dr. García Carranza received from the hands of Pedro Iglesias, president of the municipal assembly of Popular Power, the Illustrious Daughter of Bauta distinction, as sincere recognition of all the contributions and donations that, since its first edition, the most important Cuban bibliographer has made to the Origins Workshop and to the shelves of the Bautense library.

On this occasion, the young writer Yohan Moya presented several titles authored by Araceli: Knowing as passion, A fireplace in Carpentiery Cintio Vitier on his centenaryall three donated to the Antonio Maceo library.

A significant part of the exhibition arrived at this event from the Cuban capital The Havana that they have given me, the Havana that I leave youby the visual artists Sonia Almaguer Darna and Denys San Jorge, authors of the proposal where painting and photography merge into a harmonious discourse, without prejudice, to reveal the soul of a city of diverse and beautiful architecture, although time and neglect have eroded it, according to the critic Evelio Sánchez Zayas.

The event, which included a mass in honor of the originists in the church of Nuestra Señora de la Merced, given by the priest Eloy Domínguez, Auxiliary Bishop of Havana, closed with the inauguration of the XVII Salón Las Artes Plásticas en Orígenes, in the Guerrero gallery, exhibiting 17 works in various formats, the Yordance group performed, and tribute was paid to the recently deceased painter Álvaro Pérez.
