A young scion of noble birth, Orlando spends his days carousing at the lively court of Elizabeth I and his nights writing soulful poetry. One winter he falls in love with a rebellious Russian princess, who then abandons him. Two kings succeed one another and, now thirty, Orlando is sent as ambassador to Constantinople, where one day he awakens from a seven-night sleep to find himself in a woman’s body.
