The work of this working meeting, which took place in the presence of representatives of the provinces concerned, as well as members of the Council, was devoted to the presentation of the assessment of the physical and financial achievements of the 2022 financial year, the progress of the execution of the program for the current year as of May 26, 2023 and the results of the current agricultural season, indicates a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests.

Regarding the current agricultural season, it is marked by a rainfall deficit in the Office’s area of ​​action and an unfavorable hydrological situation resulting in low water supplies in 2021/2022, it is specified, noting that several projects have been launched in the Oriental Region within the framework of the Regional Agricultural Plan (PAR).

These are mainly projects to modernize the irrigated sectors in the Garet plain, to strengthen the drinking water supply to the towns of Berkane, Nador and Driouch through the construction and implementation of new compact water demineralization stations from new boreholes.

The other projects concern the construction of supply pipes for the disconnection of the drinking water systems from the irrigation canal on the left bank and the right bank of the Moulouya irrigated area, as well as the launch of the first aggregation project for the carob sector.

Regarding the results of the 2022 financial year, positive performance indicators were recorded, explains the same source, noting that the subsidies granted to farmers within the framework of the Agricultural Development Fund (FDA) reached an amount of 212 million DH.

As for the assessment of the current year, it focused mainly on the progress of the implementation of the Generation Green strategy projects and the progress of the implementation of the 2020-2027 drinking water supply and irrigation program.

The 2020-2027 drinking water supply and irrigation program mainly focuses on the creation of water points for watering livestock and the development of PMH (small and medium hydraulic) areas, which mobilized a budget of 17.86 million dirhams for the period 2020-2022.

It also covers collective conversion to localized irrigation, the cumulative converted area of ​​which reached 930 ha between 2020-2022, individual conversion to localized irrigation with a converted area of ​​24,883 ha until 12/31/2022 as well as hydro-agricultural development and the modernization and rehabilitation of multi-purpose water supply systems (Emergency Plan).

As part of the Rainfall Deficit Impact Reduction Program (PRIDP), an allocation of 153,139 quintals of barley, 29,094 quintals of compound feed and a budget envelope of 200,000 dirhams were allocated for the transport of livestock feed for the benefit of breeders in the ORMVAM action zone to cover the period from 2022 to May 26, 2023.

The members of the Board of Directors praised the seriousness and effectiveness of the actions carried out by ORMVAM to contribute to the agricultural development of its area of ​​action through the implementation of projects programmed within the framework of the regional agricultural plan of the Génération Green strategy.

At the end of the council’s work, the minister congratulated the management of the Office and its executives for the results and indicators obtained, stressing the need to continue to commit and mobilize all resources to ensure the successful implementation of the agricultural strategy Generation Green 2020-2030 at the level of the Oriental region.
