Oru Thathvika Avalokanam Malayalam Movie Review & Rating: ‘A Theoretical Review’ written and directed by newcomer Akhil Marar has hit theaters today. Inspired by Shankara’s dialogue in ‘Sandesham’, ‘I mean a theoretical review’, the film is a political satire like ‘Sandesham’. The film is a satirical portrayal of many recent political and social issues in Kerala

The story of the film is based on the characters of Shankar (Joju George) and Nandu (Niranjan). Shankar’s life has been miserable for not succumbing to the greed of a leader of the ruling party. Nandu is a young man who could not write the much-desired PSC exam due to the same party. The story of ‘A Theoretical Overview’ progresses as the two fight against the three mainstream parties in the country and the events that ensue.

Meanwhile, the film travels through two militants coming from Delhi with an operation in Kerala, their leaders and leaders of three political parties in the area.

Director Akhil Marar has managed to keep the audience laughing from beginning to end. The story continues with a sarcastic presentation of contemporary political events. The film shows a lot of social media trolling of major parties and their leaders.

The hollow policies and attitudes of the mainstream political parties
‘A theoretical review’ seeks to critique and expose. Throughout the film, the director criticizes political parties and leaders, but at the end of the film he emphasizes the power of democracy and its importance.

What seemed to be a shortcoming in the film was that it created a lot of extra context within the story to tell certain events. Even the Kerala operation of the terrorists feels like something out of the ordinary. The film also criticizes all three political parties, but raises the question of whether further criticism is confined to one party.

Another great performance by Jojo George can be seen in ‘A Theoretical Review’. Jojo’s performance is emotional and can make the audience cry. Niranjan, the son of Maniyan Pillai Raju, also played the role well.

Shammi Thilakan, who will be the party area secretary, also deserves applause. Aju Varghese is also in the picture with cool counters. Another notable performance in the film is by Aziz Nedumangad. The crazy character of Aziz who is hijacked by a KSRTC bus will make the audience laugh.

Major Ravi as the party leader, Prashant Alexander as the militant and Balaji Sharma as the SI have portrayed their characters well. While not a groundbreaking contribution to the genre, Prem Kumar and Mamukoya do well in the role of terrorist group leaders.

The camera of the film is moved by Vishnu Narayanan. Vishnu has also beautifully copied the intersection of a village. The scene where Aziz’s character steals the bus is visually impressive. The film is edited by Lijo Paul. The background music by Shaan Rahman has helped to add a lot of punch to the comedy scenes. Shawn also gave the leaders an interesting background score. The background music given to the character of the saffron leader is very remarkable. The songs composed by OK Ravi Shankar are also beautiful, especially the title song of the film. The film is produced under the banner of Johan Productions.

‘A Theoretical Overview’ will be a favorite film of people interested in socio-political issues. ‘
