Dhe science fiction adventure “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and the German World War II drama “Nothing New in the West” are the big winners at this year’s Oscars. “Everything Everywhere” won seven Oscars at the Oscars Gala in Hollywood on Sunday evening (local time), including the main prize for best picture. “Nothing New in the West” by director Edward Berger made German cinema history with four Oscars.

The critically acclaimed entry “Everything Everywhere” entered the Oscar race with eleven nominations as a top favorite, closely followed by “Nothing New in the West” with nine nominations. The film by directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, a wild mixture of science fiction, comedy, satire and combat film, won the 95th Academy Awards in the top category of best film and the Oscar for best director, among other things.

Malaysian-born Michelle Yeoh, who is suddenly catapulted into a multiverse of parallel worlds in the film as the boss of a laundromat, became the first Asian actor to win the Oscar for best actress.
