The Latvian and Ukrainian duet, which is seeded seventh in the tournament, defeated the tenth seeded international duo of Taiwan’s Chan Haochina and Russian Veronika Kudermetova 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals.
The Latvian/Ukrainian duo started the game with a serve, winning the first five games and using the first set point in the seventh game.
The opponents started the second set with a serve, but Ostapenko won the first three games with Kichenok.
In the fourth game, with the fourth break ball, the opponents managed to recover one point, getting closer to 2-3 after the fifth game.
However, the Latvian/Ukrainian pair won the remaining three games, scoring the match with the first of two match points.
The winners were superior in all key statistical indicators, minus uncatchable serves (0:2) and double faults (1:0).
