Ouagadougou: municipal police officers intend to take legal action against a magistrate
Ouagadougou, December 14 2023(AIB)-Municipal police officers plan to take a magistrate to court for “abuse of power”, the AIB learned on Thursday.
During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, municipal police officers carried out illegal parking control missions in Ouagadougou.
To this end, they got their hands on a vehicle parked in the middle of the road in front of a maquis (bar-restaurant).
The owner of the vehicle, who introduced himself as a magistrate, initially refused to leave the maquis to present himself to the police.
When he joined them, the lawyer refused to allow his vehicle to be loaded and allegedly made discourteous remarks towards the agents.
It is said that the person concerned would have drawn his weapon and had it not been for the coolness of the municipal police officers, the worst would have happened.
Despite the intervention of a senior municipal police officer who made the trip, the magistrate remained intractable and even summoned the team leader today.
Very shocked to have been mishandled in the exercise of their duties, the municipal police officers decided to also file a complaint for abuse of authority.
