These two new health structures, which will expand the provision of care in the province of Ouarzazate, were built as part of the Program to reduce territorial and social disparities in rural areas (2017-2023), indicates a press release from the provincial prefecture.
The same source specifies that these two structures were equipped within the framework of the framework agreement on the strengthening and improvement of health services in the province of Ouarzazate thanks to investments of 444 million Dirhams, signed between the Ministry of the Interior (general directorate of local authorities), the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), as well as the prefecture and the council of the province.
The provincial delegation of Health and Social Protection has provided these two structures with the necessary human resources to enable them to begin providing their services to a population estimated at 14,000 inhabitants of the mountainous areas of the commune of Iminoulaoune, which are experiencing cold spells and snowfalls.
Both healthcare establishments have 4 staff accommodations intended for medical and nursing staff.
The press release also highlights the completion of procedures relating to the implementation of two structuring projects among those scheduled, namely the construction of the specialty hospital in Ouarzazate, which will mobilize 280 million Dirhams, and the launch of the Provincial Emergency Medical Aid Service (SAMU).
The provincial SAMU will be launched as part of a partnership between the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the INDH, the prefecture and the provincial council, the municipalities of the province and the provincial office of the Moroccan Red Crescent.
In this context, 24 new ambulances have been mobilized pending the completion of the necessary legal and organizational procedures.
